TRAINING

SJCIT is one of the most reputed institutes for Technological and Management education blended with Research and Innovations in Karnataka. Known for its solid relations with the industry, the Institute has always been a favourite destination of recruitment for many MNCs. The Training and Placement Cell (TPC) is the nodal point of contact for companies seeking to establish a productive relationship with SJCIT. TPC has to guide students to choose right career and to gain knowledge, skill, and attitude and meet the manpower requirements of the Industry. Vision is to make every aspiring student employer choice and the mission is to act as a liaison between the industry and students in order to fulfil the aspiration of the students in securing the right job and to ensure placements for all students of various branches of our college.

Placement training plays a major role in shaping up the career goals of students. It is a dream of every engineering student to get placed in a top organization visiting their campus for recruitment. Keeping this key aspect into consideration, it is realized that training is important for students to enhance their employability skills and achieve good placement in various industries.

In the recent past around 85% of our out-going students have been recruited by leading organizations that include a large number of globally recognized multi-national and Indian companies. The academic excellence at SJCIT is reflected in its students’ exemplary record in placements in the corporate and engineering sectors. SJCIT has consistently maintained an excellent recruitment record.

 

The Training Programme which is being offered at the institutional level and being facilitated by the Training & Placement Office is aimed at orienting the students with life skills. Career orientation is achieved by training the students on the skills needed for a career in the corporate. It nurtures industry-institute interaction, by organizing and coordinating frequent industrial visits, in-plant trainings and projects of industrial relevance for the students, with the sole aim of zeroing down the gap between the industry & academia.

The training programs are custom made to every batch of engineering and management courses. All the training programs starts only after the thorough analysis of capabilities, personality, IQ & EQ of the students.

The SJCIT also offers internship programs for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. SJCIT has started with in-house internship program for engineering students in areas of IOT & Robotics, 3D printing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science etc.,

List of soft skills that we provide at SJCIT-TPC

• Professional English:

Fluency in spoken English is nowadays a non-negotiable soft skill for most firms. Most companies operate on a national or international basis  and good verbal skills in English is a must for employees, especially if they are in a job, that involves much public interaction – describing a product/service or project to many people at large. Our experienced faculty members will help our students to develop formidable English-speaking skills through regular debates, presentation (subject wise/technical seminars) exercises etc.,

• Aptitude Building

Most of the renowned firms or recruitment agencies take several assessment tests/aptitude tests for shortlisting candidates for personal interviews. Aptitude is basically the ability to solve a problem creatively and to analyze data etc., TPC offers extensive aptitude building training, where you can brush up your pie chart solving skills, percentage basics, pattern recognition etc.

• Competitive Coding

This is a very important skill, as most jobs will require you at some point to work in a team. Competitive programming helps you learn how to effectively work together, as you must work with others on your team to complete the same task. You learn how to assess your team members’ strength and weaknesses and effectively divide responsibilities amongst each other and make you a desirable candidate for major companies.

• Interpersonal & Communication Skills

As long as people work together, they will need to communicate and do it well. During the personal interview round, the interviewer will check  communication skills. If students are good at it, then they can shape their thoughts better and convince them that they are the right candidate for their profile.

• Personality Development

Personality development is one of the most important aspects of training sessions, wherein the TPC organizes a series of tests and workshops to recognize the talent and shortcomings.

• Group Discussions

Group discussions have become an integral part of the hiring process. Companies select students for the final interview round on the basis of their performance in the group discussion. One of the best ways to study the attitudinal and behavioural responses of the participants, group discussions are more of an interaction than a conventional test. The TPC conducts mock group discussions to develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork (how you manage and engage fellow participants) and technical knowledge of the subject.

• Technical Interview Practices

Intensive training on technical and core knowledge of all the streams is provided through special training classes from professionals

• CV Writing Skills:

Student’s resume is a summation of his/her achievements, skills, education background etc., TPC will teach students to how to make their CV more attractive and striking during the pre-placement training, which begins from day one

• Personal Interview:

One of the most crucial steps to get hired by your dream company is to excel in the final rounds of personal interviews. While some companies schedule 2-3 rounds of interviews including technical and HR interviews, a few select students on the basis of panel interview round and Skype interview. The TPC trains students on important interview skills related to dressing code, confidence, creativity, ability to react and respond, and handle stress.
